About Us

History

Our first meeting was held on September 11th 2001. Yes, that day our country should never forget! Just a few people were in attendance and none of us knew what to do or say. It was a shocking day to say the least, but our commoradery and common likes and dislikes held us together during that strange era. We have since grown with members and have added many private gold claims. We enjoy hosting the "Rick Radke Nugget Hunt" each year at Radersburg, MT. In addition to the nugget hunt that is regionally well known, we have added another detector hunt in recent years that is rather unique and for members only. Our "trash hunt" which has been extremely successful is definitely a favorite amongst members. We tend to stay busy during the warm months with club outtings and events. Our members range from innexperienced "Newbies" to seasoned miners that have their own private claims. From the very beginning, it seems that we all have a "build it ourself" attitude when it comes to specialized gold equipment, and the experience/ knowldedge within our club is well rounded. We continue to have a monthly meeting held the second Wednesday of every month.

Mission Statement

The Headwaters Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America (GPAA) is a Not-For_Profit Organization to introduce individuals to prospecting and mining of precious minerals.

Chapter Meetings and Membership

Our monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm. Come and join us and meet a bunch of like minded people. It really doesn't matter if your a "newbie" to the obsession, or an experienced miner. To become a member is simple! If you are already a GPAA member, all you have to do to join our club is attend three chapter meetings per year and participate in one workday per year.
